December 11 will see the opening of the Dance of Palace Dolls exhibition to present the modern world’s best collection of music boxes and mechanical dolls.
The exhibits have been provided from David Yakobashvili's collection. The expositions will include technically and artistically exclusive works that display practically all types of mechanical music game boxes of the 19th-20th centuries. A wide range of plots and subjects illustrates the history of development of the mechanical music devices culture.
The collection of David Yakobashvili was created throughout lots of years and consists of unique works of national and world art. Every exhibit in the collection underwent complicated restoration works of the highest professional level. The history of creating the collection of “musical mechanics” is closely related to the well-known collector Bill Lindvale, who dedicated his life to collecting ancient mechanical music instruments and music boxes. In 2004 David Yakobashvili was gifted with over 400 music mechanical devices. From that time “a new era” in the history of the collection started.
The exhibition will run from December 11 till January 26, 2014.
