Christian Antiquities of Perm Krai Arrive in Moscow

120 exhibits from the collection of the Perm Art Gallery will be displayed in Moscow. These are iconography objects, famous Perm wooden sculptures, gold embroidery, vestments, the royal doors, and applied monuments.

      The exhibition mostly consists of canonical church items: vestments of priests, vessels for the holy sacraments, banners and covers. 

      However, the most interesting part of the exposition is made of cult wooden painted sculptures which can be found only in the Perm Krai, nowhere else in the Russian churches. The northern wooden sculpture is a unique phenomenon, and can usually be seen only on the top floor of the Perm State Art Gallery. 

      The exhibition will take place in the History Museum till March 9, 2014.
