Seven state colleges are set for a major overhaul after a comprehensive assessment done by the Education Ministry across the establishments providing tertiary education.
The full list of colleges that have been declared inefficient also includes 57 state college branches, 125 private institutions and 184 branches, the Lenta.ru online news outlet cites an official statement by the ministry.
According to Interfax, another news agency, re-organization is in store for the following colleges:
- The Institute of Law and Economy,
- The Novocherkassk State Academy of Land Amelioration,
- The Arctic State Insititute of Arts and Culture,
- The Kursk Academy of State and Municipal Service,
- The Serebryakov Conservatory in Volgograd,
- The Volgograd State Institute of Arts and Culture,
- The Volga Institute of Economics, Pedagogy and Law.
The Russian Education system has been going through ups and downs in the past years, rattled by the ongoing Bologna process. The challenge has been to raise the standards and get into the Top 100 universities of the world’s rankings.
