Christmas tree season started in Leningrad Oblast. Anyone can legally cut down a Christmas tree in the forest. It is just required to pay the tree cost and then to address to the nearest forestry.

In a run-up to New Year's holidays Christmas trees are being distributed to citizens for their own use. Up to 1 meter high main symbol of Christmas and New Year will cost 3.48 rubles, from 1.1 to 2 meters – 6.66 and from 2.1 to 3 meters – 15.42 rubles plus bank commission. After the payment has been done, it is required to contact nearest forestry for making a sale contract. Forest area designated for Christmas tree harvesting will be indicated right there. The areas, which require forest clearing – under power lines, on minor glades, over fire breaks, fire roads and forest trails – are purposely selected for deforestation. One person can cut down no more than one tree.
