A new bridge over the Tanara River is commissioned in Vilyuiskiy district of Yakutia at the 459th kilometer of the federal “Vilyui” road. The opening of the bridge made it possible to develop the year-round transport communication between Yakutsk and Vilyuiskiy, Verkhnevilyuiskiy, Nyurbinsky, Suntarsky, Mirninsky and Lensky districts.
The new bridge will replace the pontoon ferries and eliminate boat crossing previously practiced in the region. The bridge crossing has a length of nearly 100 linear meters, a width of 11.5 meters and a height of about 5 meters. In order to install the bridge pillars the builders drilled nearly 20 meters. According to the director of the “AmurMost” contractor company Anatoly Girkalo, the bridge will serve more than one hundred years. The bridge over the Tanara River was the fifth facility crossing water barriers in “Vilyui” put into service, after the bridges over the rivers Botomoya, Tuora-Kyuel, Kenkeme and in the Verkhnemarkovo area in Irkutsk oblast.
