Diamonds will be exported abroad not only from Yakutia from now on. The subsidiary company of “Lukoil” will be entitled to export diamonds abroad in 2014. The order on granting of such license was signed by the Russian Government on December, 8.
Thus, aside from ALROSA “Nizhne-Lensky”, “Arkhangelsk Geological Enterprise” (AGD) belonging to “Lukoil” will also sell diamonds abroad. The list of exporters also includes FSUE “Almazyuvelirexport” which previously exported only control volumes of diamonds abroad in order to investigate this segment of the world market and learn about the prices. The stocks of Verkhotinskoe deposit where diamond mining will begin in late 2013, according to experts, amount to 98 million carats.
The cost of all deposits of Mezensky district of Arkhangelsk oblast makes up about 11 billion dollars. Russia came in first in the world in the volume of diamond production in kind and second in total revenue after Botswana.
