PSB is ready to participate in the process of reorganization and revival of Smolensky Bank if Russia’s Central Bank will decide to revoke its banking license.
“So far, Smolensky Bank struggles with circumstances it has faced with. If the bank will not handle its problems independently, the Central Bank will withdraw the license and reorganization process will be initiated. Then yes, we will participate in the processes of this bank ", Mr. Sobolev, chairman of PSB said. According to him, now it all depends on Central Bank’s decision. Mr. Sobolev also noted that other banks will also want to take part in reorganization process in case of license revocation. “The mode of participation can be different. We can undertake all the obligations: all assets and liabilities,” Mr. Sobolev said, specifying that Central Bank can revoke the license at any time.
“Our bank has the resources to revive Smolensky Bank without troubles “– he said. Earlier, the bank customers sent an open letter to the chairman of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina, asking not to revoke the license and to provide financial assistance.
