Development of interesting tourist destinations was discussed on Siberian Cultural and Tourist Forum held in Altai Krai from December 5 to 7. The event took place in Barnaul and in the resort town of Belokurikha.

The new tourist route of Silk Road was forum’s key topic. It will assist Altay region to integrate its domestic tourism in the European and global cultural processes. Altai part of the Silk Road was just one of the many branches. The road led out of Gobi desert towards Chinese oasis city of Turpan, through Altai to Kazakhstan, and then up to the capital of the Golden Horde – the city of Sarai. Today, the Silk Road project is being implemented under the auspices of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The letter of intent to organize this kind of route has already been signed. It was signed by Dagestan, Kalmykia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Tatarstan, Altai and Stavropol Krai, Astrakhan Oblast.
