Monument to Suvorov Military School Students Set Up In Petersburg

A new monument has been unveiled in Saint Petersburg.  A sculpture dedicated to graduates of the Suvorov military schools has been set up near the Suvorov Military School in 26, Sadovaya Street.

      The unveiling ceremony was dedicated to celebration of the 70th anniversary since foundation of the Suvorov Military Schools and Nakhimov Naval Academies in Russia. The participants of the unveiling ceremony observed one minute’s silence in remembrance of the Suvorov Military School students who had perished in the line of military duty.

      The monument was initiated by the top military commander of the Western Approaches Command Anatoly Sidorov. The sculpture based on Fedor Reshetnikov’s painting Arrived for Vacation! has been created by the sculptor Karen Sarkisov.
