The residents of the entire Murmansk oblast will be able to travel to Norway without visas.
The residents of the entire Murmansk oblast will be able to travel to Norway without visas. According to “Interfax", the visa-free regime can be extended to the entire region, as an experiment. This was stated by the member of the Federation Council Committee on Northern Affairs Igor Chernyshenko at a press briefing in Murmansk. “The question of the extension (of the visa-free zone) to the region boundary as an experiment refers more likely to Finnmark and Murmansk oblast” - he said. Chernyshenko recalled that now there is a 30-kilometer zone of visa-free travel between Russia and Norway.
Moscow and Oslo are currently negotiating the expansion of the zone.
“If we talk about the fact that the majority of Russians will be free to move around Europe without visas, I see no (such prospect ) in the short term, Murmansk oblast has more chances as an experiment for the European Union” - the senator added.
