There are candidates for bankruptcy among the 50 largest banks of Russia. There are organizations in a state of pre-bankruptcy among the 50 largest banks of Russia. This was stated by the Chairman of the Management Board of VTB 24 Mikhail Zadornov in his interview to the web-portal ‘banki.ru’.
“Are there any of the large banks in a pre-bankruptcy state? Yes, there are, and the market knows them. I do not know if the Central Bank is going to withdraw their licenses or not” - he said. According to Zadornov, the Central Bank will continue to withdraw the licenses for banking operations from Russian credit organizations in the banking sector as a whole, but in a less intense way than in the autumn of this year. “The Central Bank will probably continue to work on the sanitation of the banking system, but it will be a more uniform, orderly process. We can say that about two hundred banks are strategic ones, of course, not in accordance with the Basel standards. Both Master-Bank, and “Pushkin” Bank were among them, at that, the withdrawal of their licenses had no significant effects on the market. Even if you withdraw 100 licenses, it will make no difference in terms of the economy”.
