Pastel Art Masterpieces to be Displayed in the Tretyakov Gallery

The Tretyakov Gallery has opened the exhibition Pastel Art. From Collections of the 17th -20th centuries.

      The traditional changing exposition from the art graphic collections this time reconstructs an exhibition of 2004 that generated great interest among art lovers. The exhibition was dedicated to pastel art, a very subtle and refined technique.

      The gallery keeps about 800 pastels, some of which were acquired by P. M. Tretyakov himself.

      The exposition includes around 150 pastels by A.Venetsianov, Mikhail Vrubel, Oleg Kiprensky, Isaac Levitan, Valentin Serov and other artists. The exhibition will show the richest range of possibilities of the pastel technique and the way of its development in the Russian art from its appearance in the 18th century till its flowering in the early 20th century.

      The exhibition will run in the Tretyakov Gallery at the address 10, Lavrushinsky Lane May 18, 2014.
