      The Federation Council proposes to add a graphic symbol of the rouble to the keyboard. Earlier it was reported that the symbol of the strikethrough letter “P” had been selected. The public discussion of the project ended on December 5, 2013. 280 thousand people participated in the discussion of the rouble symbol. “We, the legislators, are willing to cause the Russian rouble symbol to appear on a computer keyboard” - the first Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Aleksandr Torshin declared.

      He recalled it that computer keyboards have a dollar symbol, and “we are just as good”. “So we expect our technologists to provide the relevant developments” - Torshin concluded. For his part, the Deputy Head of the Federation Council Committee on Budget and Financial Markets Nikolay Zhuravlev suggested to add the rouble symbol into mobile phones and gadgets.
