Krasnoyarsk students have developed a project for founding the memorial estate Shalabolinsky Petroglyphs.
In case of successful project promotion the museum would be created within five years, the associate professor of the Krasnoyarsk State Teachers’ Training University Alexander Zaika reported on Friday.
Shalabolinsky Petroglyphs is a rock painting monument located on the bank of River Tuba, an inflow of Yenisei. Anthropomorphous figures, animals, symbols and signs are depicted on stones - actually illustrations of ancient myths of the Stone Age are imprinted there. One can see sophisticated schemes of the world order and fantastic images of the Eneolithic Period. There are rocky burials underneath and dozens of sites and burial mounds in the vicinity.
The Shalabolinsky Petroglyphs monument is in danger: bush hunters sign and draw right over the ancient rock paintings, which are also harmed by smoke of their campfires.
Unlike other known objects of ancient art of the region, the Shalabolinsky Petroglyphs cover a wide period: from the Stone Age (6 to 8 and probably, 9 to 12 thousand years back) to the present (the 19th century- the first half of the 20th century). The plots of petroglyphic art trace back to the major milestones of local, national and world history.
