Since January 1, 2014 the citizens of Russia can visit South Korea without visa, as well as stay in the airports of Dalian and Shenyang for 72 hours if in transit, ITAR-TASS reports.
The visa abolition agreement between Russia and South Korea was signed on November 13, 2013 in Seoul. The document commences since January 1, 2014. According to terms of the contract the citizens of two countries are allowed to visit the foreign state without visa for 60 days.
But for study, work, and permanent stay in the territory of South Korea the Russians require visa. The same is true for South Koreans to stay in Russia.
Since January 1 the Russians who travel in transit through the country, can stay in the territory of the northeast cities of China – namely Dalian and Shenyang — without visas for 72 hours. The same mode is already in work regarding Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Chongqing.
