Film About Murder of Trotsky to be Made in Mexico

The murder of Lev Trotsky - one of the organizers of the October revolution in Russia - will become the subject matter of a new feature film planned by Mexican cinematographers.

“What makes this plot interesting is that very little is known about the motives, which propelled Ramón Mercader (Trotsky's murderer) to commit this crime”- the film producer Mónica Lozano told to the Notimex agency.

Trotsky migrated to Mexico in the late 1930s and then repeatedly tried to move to the USA, however, failed to get the American visa. He was killed on August 20, 1940 in his own house in Mexico City by the Soviet special-service agent Ramón Mercader.

According to the film producer, it will be co-created by Mexican, Spanish, French and German cinematographers. They have already found the name for the movie: Electee.

Now the authors are occupied with casting. So far the exact start date of film shooting remains unknown; however, Mónica Losano hopes that the movie will be ready in the coming year.
