Siberian cultural tourism forum, which discussed the development of gastronomic tourism in the region, was held in Altai Krai.
Local professionals believe that Altai is a promising region, where gastronomic tourism can and must be developed. Restaurateur Fedor Belomoyev, for instance, noted that such products as Altai honey, Altai cheeses, herbs, sweets and other delicious products are widely known all over the country. “This was absolutely right decision to take geographical approach to the matter of tourism development. Creating a geo-referenced brand, in this case referring to Altai Krai, will be in demand and will be a component of the local products' promotion. Simply promoting gastronomic tourism or Russian cuisine is very difficult. But if we are talking about some kind of culture of the region, it is very interesting and promising," he added.
