The historical war film Stalingrad by the Russian film director Fyodor Bondarchuk will be released in the North of America and Canada soon.
The top-grossing Russian film will be available there from February 28.
The film distribution market of the USA and Canada is the world's largest one and makes almost one third of the world box office: in the last year only the movies there collected 11 billion dollars. The fact that the Russian film is released in North America in the IMAX format is quite a solid step for the Russian film industry.
The film Stalingrad has already earned more than 1 670 million rubles in Russia and the CIS countries, apart from Ukraine. Among all the movies in Russian distribution it lags behind only James Cameron’s Avatar and the 4th part of Pirates of the Caribbean. Besides, Stalingrad has already been released in China and become the biggest Russian box office hit there with the receipt amount of over 11 million dollars.
