Russia's first underwater monument to the diver will be set up in the Gelendzhik Bay in May.

The monument has been initiated by regional diving sports fans that are presently in a large-scale expedition dedicated to Catherine the Great.

A 2.5 meter high monument is planned to be set up at the depth of 12 meters in the Gelendzhik Bay. It will be close to the coast; therefore even not very experienced divers will be able to see it too. According to the sculptor Gennady Panko, the monument will be made of safe materials to prevent the risk of injuries by careless divers.
