Smoking in long distance trains may be permitted. Railway workers themselves admit that the law banning smoking is almost impossible to implement, they cannot fine for smoking. Therefore, there are still no tools to prevent illegal smoking. For the time being smoking on the railway is permitted in the out-of-service vestibules of carriages, except for the trains ”Sapsan” and “Allegro”, however, both of them are underway for no longer than 5 hours.

From February 7 smoking will be banned in the double-deck passenger train “Moscow – Adler” during the Olympics. The control over the implementation of the anti-smoking law is difficult to execute, and this relates not only to railway transport. Despite the fact that the fines for smoking in public places were introduced long ago, law enforcement agencies rarely pay attention to smokers.
