Passenger Traffic In Tolmachevo Airport Increased

The number of passengers on international flights of “Tolmachevo” airport increased by 24.5%. According to the airport’s web-site, “Tolmachevo” served 3,748,211 passengers at the end of the year, which is 14.7% more than in 2012. At that, the growth of passenger traffic amounted to 24.5 % on international routes (1,556,907 passengers), and to 8.7% on internal routes (2,191,304).

      The number of people constituting passenger traffic planned for 2013 was exceeded by serving more than 3.7 million people by December 27. In addition, the airport got its three millionth passenger on October 14 - 46 days earlier than in 2012. During the year the airport handled 20,838 sorties (+12.4 %) and, according to the preliminary data, handled 29,947 tons of cargo and mail (+6.9 %). The forecast for 2014 is more than 4.2 million people and 32 tons of cargo and mail.

      In this year the airport opened a number of new routes, including flights to Palma de Mallorca, Shymkent, Kurgan-Tyube, Samara. Now the airport staff considers the prospects of flights to Seoul, Milan, Tel Aviv, Helsinki, Chisinau, Issyk-Kul, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Saratov, Mineralnye Vody, Nizhny Novgorod and other cities, as the press service of  “Tolmachevo” reported.

      Novosibirsk International Airport (Tolmachevo, code IATA – OVB) is the largest air junction point in the Asian part of Russia. The airport is conveniently located for transit stops for the flights from China and Asia to Europe. The airport holds the 6-th place in the rating of the leading Russian airports in terms of annual passenger and cargo traffic. For the first time in history in 2012 the annual passenger traffic at Novosibirsk airport rose above 3 million and amounted 3,266 million passengers (more than 18 % growth of total passenger traffic is attributed to 26 % growth on international routes). Now about 50 Russian and foreign passenger and cargo airlines operate via the airport on scheduled and charter basis connecting Novosibirsk with more than 90 destinations both in Russia and abroad.
