In 2014, Kazan will become the cultural capital of the Turkic world. As Center for Development of Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan reports, events dedicated to the culture of Turkic peoples will be held this year in the capital.
The program includes the exhibition project "Common Language: The Sign"; "Prominent enlighteners Mehmet Akif Ersoy and Gabdulla Tuqay" international symposium; international symposium of TURKSOY sculptures; "The Turkic world" music festival and many other interesting activities.
The opening ceremony of "Kazan – the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2014" will be held on April 26, the day when Tatar poet G. Tuqay was born.
According to the Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan Sergei Ivanov, the project undoubtedly will attract tourists to Kazan: “The market of Turkic-speaking countries is quite interesting for us, and our task is to let people, who live in these countries, know about our city, which possesses a rich cultural and historical heritage, including the one associated with the culture of Turkic world. Kazan is the place where two worlds meet. In this city can be seen the close interweaving of Eastern and Western cultures, which provokes a big interest among tourists. This year, we expect to increase the numbers of tourists. International guests, who see our beauty, definitely will share it with their family members and friends.”
