In 17 January night a fire broke out at Komsomolsk-on-Amur zoo. It took the lives of many animals and birds.
According to some estimates, the fire killed nearly all the zoo inhabitants. According to preliminary data, the watchman tried to cope with the fire by his own and called the fire department too late. Probable cause of the fire could be a wiring problem or a heat gun running within the building. The fire first spread over the hall, where monkeys live. They burned first. Other animals mostly died of suffocation. At present, zoo employees do not comment on the incident.
