Japanese investors are interested in soils of Russia’s Central and Southern regions.
A respective statement was given to journalists by Russian Minister of Agriculture Nikolai Fedorov during Green Week 2014 agricultural exhibition in Berlin. "Japanese investors are showing dramatically increasing interest in agrarian resources of Russia, and not only in the Far East or Trans-Baikal region, but in such Russian regions as Penza, Voronezh and south as well," he said. According to him, "The Japanese have something reconsidered recently, including after Fukushima nuclear power plant tragedy, and show much more intense interest. They study Russian regions very intensively, searching for potential partners or unoccupied lands for growing crops."
