Short version of the Kalashnikov (AKS74U) was found in a locker in the IKEA shopping center in Khimki.
This was reported on the NTV television channel on January 28.
The weapon was found by a shop manager in one of the lockers. Moreover, she found 111 cartridges in the next locker.
The shop staff called the police and the weapon was sent for check-up and probe. According to the Life News edition, the serial number of the machine gun had not been deleted. It will probably help to establish the origin of the weapon.
On August 23, 2013 a similar thing happened in the Zebra fitness club in Moscow. A man known as Valera to the club staff left a machine gun and two dispenser magazines in a locker. On the night of August 24 the alleged weapon owner, the 30-year-old Valery Yutin from Rostov-on-Don was detained. According to the RIA Novosti news agency, he was later suspected of arrangement for kidnapping and jewelry store robbery.
