Oriental Art Museum Features Asian Sports

On February 7, 2014 the State Museum of Oriental Art opens an exhibition on sports of various countries and peoples of the East.

The exposition Sports! Sports! Sports! comprises art works of different areas: the Far East, Southeast and Central Asia, Caucasus and Central Asian countries, as well as Northeast of Russia. The exhibition brings together monuments of fine and applied arts and sports equipment.

Paintings and figurines with sports motives give a vivid picture of exotic games or national shows of various peoples. Among the rarities presented in the museum there are Eskimo balls made of deer skin. The gem of the exposition is a Japanese porcelain panel with painting on the traditional battledore and shuttlecock game, as well as battledores for this popular court entertainment.

The exhibition runs till February 23, 2014.
