A real museum of death has been opened in the New Arbat Street in Moscow. Visitors will see unique ritual objects in this or that way related to afterlife beliefs in different countries.
Among them there are coffins in the shape of a plane, a bug, a TV consol, a cigar and even a vodka bottle. These are all copies of astounding African sarcophagi really used for burying dead men in the faraway Ghana.
The gallery of unusual coffins is supplemented with unusual gravestones. Thus, for example, there is a bulb-shaped gravestone made of pure granite.
The museum curator Alexander Donskoy confides that lots of the museum exhibits, especially skeletons, are artificial replicas. That can be quite a relief for some especially sensitive visitors, cannot it? It is this Death Museum, which can prompt people reflect deeper on the meaning and purpose of life.
