Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov from Russia have become winners of a short program in pair figure skating at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
The present world champions have bypassed their main competitors Alyona Savchenko and Robin Sholkova from Germany nearly five points. Another Russian figure skating pair - Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov - have come in a good third.
Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov already showed their short program in the Olympic Sochi. Their interpretation of Lermontov’s drama The Masquerade gained them 83.79 scores in the team tournament.
The short program champion Maxim Trankov promises to keep on striving despite of the Tuesday records.
“For me personally our performance turned out to be ambiguous. There were moments when I felt like I was about to fly up, but it was necessary to constrain myself. I had to find required balance of technique and artistic expression. We had moments in our career when emotions did not work well for us. Germans are such a pair that can win back any lag. We should to come to the ice and do what we prepared for these Games", - the figure skater stated.
Free program in pair figure skating will take place on Wednesday.
