Happy Birthday, Dear Physicists!

One of the famous Russian science and research institutes Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics (ITEP) has recently celebrated its 60th birthday. Its fellows have celebrated the anniversary and organized the meeting, dedicated to Institutes international activities. Study counselors from many foreign embassies were welcomed at the celebration. After official part ended, the concert started, then scientists were invited to have a drink.
Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics was established in the USSR in 1945 by the Councils of People's Commissars resolution signed by Stalin. At that time the Institute was part of Special Committee head by Beria. It meant that the Institute participated in Soviet Nuclear Project. Soviet Government gave a difficult task the Institutes head, academic A. Alikhanov he should have supervised design works of heavy-water nuclear reactor for producing proliferating nuclear materials. Atmosphere of creativity, surrounding Institutes studies, has attracted many eminent physicists, like L Landau and I. Pomeranychuk.
Today ITEP is multi-field science centre, acknowledged both in Russia and all over the world, which performs research in nuclear physics, elementary-particle physics, solid-state radiation physics, ion beam and safe nuclear power sources physics.
The Institute was assigned to State Science Centre of Russian Federation.
