“Gazprom Neft” company is interested in implementing projects in Iran, however, no bilateral negotiations have yet been conducted, as RIA “Novosti” (“News”) reported referring to the statement of the Deputy General Director of the company Vadim Yakovlev.

“If we are fine with what we have, we will be able to proceed with the evaluation of certain projects and deposits”- Yakovlev said. In 2009 “Gazprom Neft” concluded the memorandum on cooperation with the state National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), the memorandum involves the joint development of two oil deposits in Iran: Azar and Shangul. The company planned to complete the negotiations on joining the Azar project until the end of the summer of 2010, but the contract was not signed. The reason could lay in the conditions of the contract which were disadvantageous for the Russian party.
