February 12 will see the opening of Andy Warhol's exhibition in the Jewish Museum in Moscow.
Ten works by Andy Warhol are portraits of well-known Jews of the 20th century. The portraits are part of a collection of the billionaire Leon Blavatnik (who emigrated from the USSR to the USA at the age of 21). In a recognizable manner and equipment of Andy Warhol represented Sarah Bernhardt, Louis Brandeis, Martin Buber, Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, George Gershwin, Franz Kafka, the Marx Brothers, Golda Meir, and Gertrude Stein. This late (it is executed in the 1980th) a series was made by request of the gallery owner Warhol and has ambiguous reputation: some critics abuse it for operation of the Jewish subject, and others consider as logical continuation of obsessivny interest of Warhol to celebrities and all circle of the questions arising round them.
The exhibition will take place till April 9.
