Sochi 2014: Russia Beat Slovenia 5-2 in Ice Hockey

Team Russia stunned Slovenia 5-2 in the Group A opener to secure the first three points in the qualification stage.

      Alex Ovechkin opened the scoring in the second minute, followed by Evgeny Malkin, Ilya Kovalchuk, Valery Nichushkin and Anton Belov.

      Semyon Varlamov made 12 saves out of 14. He was favoured to defend the net of the Russian national ice hockey team over Sergey Bobrovsky, another NHL star.
