Tourism information centre of Arkhangelsk Oblast has developed a logo symbolizing the preservation of folk traditions, hospitality, warm and hearty welcome of the guests of the region. A northern mitten will now become a universal symbol of vivid and unique travels in Arkhangelsk Oblast.
A group of designers from Arkhangelsk suggested several versions of the logo of the region, among them they selected the most memorable and bright logo which suits the objectives of tourism development of the region best of all. According to the designers, a mitten designates the salvation from the cold; it is a beautiful, comfortable and warm clothing item with many connotations and in tune with the concept of the TIC that is to extend a warm welcome to the guests.
The new logo includes the letter “i” (from the word ‘information’) traditionally used by tourism information centres around the world. However, tourists should associate the “i” with the tourism of a certain region through a certain image reflecting its indigenous traits and peculiarities of tourism; that was the reason for the selection of a knitted mitten as the logo of Arkhangelsk oblast.
