Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda won gold in two-man bobsleigh race on Tuesday.

The victory propelled Russia to a second spot in the medal count, with 5 gold medals, just below Germany, which has seven.

Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko has congratulated our athletes on this historic achievement. This is the first time Russia has won gold in bobsleigh.

Alexander Zubkov was Russia's flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympic Games on February 7.
