Domenico Trezzini Monument Unveiled in Heart of Petersburg

A monument to Domenico Trezzini - one of the first architects of St. Petersburg - has been unveiled near Blagoveshchensky Bridge at the Vasilievsky Island in Petersburg.

The great architect is depicted as wearing a rich fur coat and holding a roll of paper and tools in his hands. Trezzini is looking at the granite coast of River Neva, with his head high and a smile playing on his lips. The bronze sculpture 5.5 meters high was created by the sculptor Pavel Ignatyev and the architect Pavel Bogryantsev.

“It took us nearly 18 years to create and set up the monument, and we are very glad that the works is finally complete. We hope that Petersburg dwellers will appreciate the monument” - the architect said.
