The Red Machine has been stopped by Finland who scored three times to secure a berth in the semifinals, leaving Russians without any medals.
Ilya Kovalchuk opened the scoring with a nice shot, but the Finns were quick to equalize. When the scoreboard showed 3-1, Semyon Varlamov was replaced by Sergey Bobrovsky. He didn't concede any more goals but the offense was unable to get the puck in the opponents' net.
The match was riddles with injures.
