Training Course For Guides In Solovki

A training course for guides organized by Solovetsky Museum-Reserve will be held on the basis of Petrozavodsk State University from February 13 to April 30. The curriculum includes lectures on the history and nature of Solovki, the history of Russian Orthodox Church and archeology.

The course is conducted by the research officers of the Reserve-Museum and invited experts. Those who wish to receive remote training can get materials in the methodology section of the museum. The students who pass the exams successfully will be able to go to the Solovetsky Islands, where the future guides will attend master classes and workshops on conducting tours.

“We hold training courses for guides in Petrozavodsk for the second time. The tourist season on Solovki lasts 3 months, the museum is visited by about 20,000 people during this time. Our goal is to provide them museum with professional guides. Solovki is an attractive tourist site both for Russians and foreigners. The inflow of foreign tourists is growing, and we often face the problem of lack of guides with foreign languages knowledge. We hope that this year this issue will be resolved” - the deputy director of the museum for excursion services Marina Lugovaya said.
