On Friday, Viktor An won gold in men's 500m individual race and later helped the national team outskate Team USA in the 5,000m relay.

Korean-born athlete who has become a six-time Olympic champion said the Sochi Olympics were the best Games in his career.

Once a three-time champion in his home country, he was put on the bench after an injury, a move which is believed to have deeply offended him. He then moved to Russia to prepare for the Sochi Games.

According to An, the gold in the team relay was especially important because this race crowns all the events in the short track.

He was inspired by the first gold he won earlier, he added.

His rivals were strong, but that only pushed more adrenaline to his head, he was quoted as saying.

An is proud to have raised the level of short track to an Olympic level. Watch his performance here.
