Russia-IC brings you some of the comments made by Russia's Olympic champions in figure skating at the press conference, according to Sovetsky Sport.
Adelina Sotnikova:
“I was told I was not going to the team’s events and I was deeply frustrated. But I got over it. Now I was determined to put my best foot forward in the individual event. That wish was multiplied by a thousand times. I craved for that gold.
“True, I am an Olympic champion now. But my career doesn’t end here. Now I want to win the world championship, and win it more than once. I was twice a silver medalist at the European championship. Now I want to win all the gold that is in figure skating.
Yulia Lipnitskaya:
“I was very disappointed the night before. In terms of technical components, it was a poor performance. Technically, I had been prepared for the event but wasn’t able to gear up mentally for the whole program.
I was tired, I was anxious – that added to the pressure. I cried the whole evening, I was in low spirits. They calmed me down, they told me I was an Olympic champion. Well, the fifth place in the individual event is an achievement, too. Today I feel much better. It’s okay, more or less.”
“Since I was six, I knew I was going to skate at the Sochi Olympics.”
