Russia’s four-man team led by Alexander Zubkov is leading the race after three heats. The final fourth heat is expected to take place later on Sunday. If Team Russia win gold, the host country could secure the top place in the total medal count.
With a current haul of 32 medals, Russia has set a new all-time record of medal haul, beating Soviet achievements.
Earlier, Russia-IC reported that a Canadian sled flipped in Heat 2 of the four-man bobsleigh race but luckily no-one was in injured in the spill.
Justin Kripps, Jesse Lumsden, Cody Sorensen, Ben Coakwell emerged from their bob safe and sound.
Earlier, Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda won gold in a two-man bobsleigh race on Tuesday. This was the first time Russia has won gold in bobsleigh.
Alexander Zubkov was Russia's flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympic Games on February 7.
