Sochi 2014: Figure Skater Trankov to Bear Russian Flag at Closing Ceremony

Maxim Trankov will bear the Russian national flag at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games later on Sunday.

      Together with Tatiana Volosozhar, he won gold in pair skating on February 12.

      The closing ceremony is scheduled to start at 20.00 Moscow time.

      Alexander Zubkov was Russia's flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympic Games on February 7.

      With a current haul of 32 medals, Russia has set a new all-time record of medal haul, beating Soviet achievements.

      Russia could expect more medals in the four-man bobsleigh race where Alexander Zubkov’s team is leading after three heats. The final fourth heat is taking place at the moment.

      Earlier, Russia-IC reported that a Canadian sled flipped in Heat 2 of the four-man bobsleigh race but luckily no-one was in injured in the spill.

      Justin Kripps, Jesse Lumsden, Cody Sorensen, Ben Coakwell emerged from their bob safe and sound.

      Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda won gold in a two-man bobsleigh race on Tuesday. This was the first time Russia has won gold in bobsleigh.
