Sled Dog Race “Baikal race – 2014” will be held on Lake Baikal from 1 to 2 March. Participants will be required to overcome a 100-kilometer route from the "Angara" icebreaker in Irkutsk to Listvyanka.

What is special about this race is that racers will decide themselves what speed to keep when passing the distance and how long to rest. The crew recovery stops are provided every 20-30 kilometers along the whole route. One crew can include from 1 to 6 dogs. 13 persons have already submitted their preliminary applications. “We do not limit the number of participants, but prequalify the candidates. That is that the musher must override the distance of 10 kilometers in 40 minutes,” Anna Pertseva, one of the organizers, said.
