Russia's first try-out for the annual International Children’s Film and Television Festival in Cannes, France has been held in Vladivostok.
About two hundred animated films from the Primorye Territory and the Perm Territory, the Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Samara and Moscow Regions, as well as Ukraine have been submitted for taking part in the contest.
Yamal- Nenets Autonomous Okrug was represented at the festival in Primorye by the Myniku animation association. Young animation artists from the Salekhard Children and Youth Center participated at the festival in Vladivostok with a program of six films created by them from 2011 to 2013.
The auteur animation Next-to-last Fantasy by schoolboy Vassily Korobov from Salekhard has won the lead in the Identity nomination. The young author tackles upon the sophisticated question of the meaning of life and dedicates his work to remembrance of the victims of the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident in March 2011 in Japan.
