The way for trains was opened on the new segment of Butovskaya Line between Ulitsa Starokachalovskaya and Novoyasenevskaya stations through Lesoparkovaya way station, the press service of the Moscow Metro reports.

Construction of the new 4.5-kilometer long segment of Butovskaya Line began in 2011. Due to the fact that tunnels on this section were built by closed method, the negative impact on particularly protected terrestrial ecosystem Bitsevskiy Forest was ruled out. "Today we launch a new metro line, which will connect Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya Line with Serpukhovsko-Timiriazevskaya. A unique record was set in the subway construction: the section was built in 2.5 years,” the Moscow mayor, Sergei Sobyanin said.

Lesoparkovaya station will be the part of the projected transport hub. An incentive parking and ground public transport stops are planned to be added to Lesoparkovaya interchange. Putting into operation the new segment of Butovskaya Line will improve transportation services in Severnoye and Yuzhnoye Butovo districts, which are inhabited by nearly 300 thousand people. In addition, the transport connection of the new Moscow territories, adjacent to Butovo, will be improved with the help of two metro lines: Serpukhovsko-Timiriazevskaya and Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya. This plan will allow to relieve the southern section of Serpukhovsko-Timiriazevskaya Line and to increase the capacity and reliability of Butovskaya subway line.
