No Free Entrance To Parks In Buryatia

Visiting Tunkinsky and Zabaykalsky national parks in Buryatia is not free of charge anymore. Changes to the law On Specially Protected Natural Territories were made last year: now individuals will be charged for visiting national parks with tourism and recreation purposes.

Exceptions are made only for the areas within the settlements’ boundaries. The fee will be set by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia. It will be charged when issuing permits for tourists and guests. The fee is not going to be charged to citizens living in Okinsky and Bargusinsky districts or driving through Tunkinsky District. For many years, till now the payment has been taken from visitors at the entrance to the Barguzinsky district park for visiting equipped sightseeing trails and routes, viewing platforms, as well as for on-site accommodation, for holiday picnics and visiting pit toilets.
