All-Russia People’s Front has asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to check the legality of construction work in Sergei Yesenin Memorial Estate in the Ryazan Region.
Earlier the regional administration reported about a new project approving the buffer zone of the cultural heritage site of federal importance – the estate, which the poet Sergei Yesenin was born in 1895 and lived in. The document decreased the buffer zone nearly seven times, and almost entire Konstantinovo Village fell under the area of regulated construction. Then the regional governor Oleg Kovalev instructed regional officials to keep the estate intact, Gazeta.ru reports.
Activist of the All-Russia People’s Front, the State Duma deputy Andrei Krasov sent a letter to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request “to assess the actions of municipal authorities who have issued permits for illegal construction, and nonfeasance of regional supervisory authorities to eradicate these and other violations of the culture protection law”.
