Gallery of Modern Art has opened the personal exhibition of Vladimir Popov in the framework of the Year of Culture in Russia.
The well-known artist Vladimir Aleksandrovich Popov defended the Motherland in the Great Patriotic War from 1941 to 1945 and was awarded three orders for combat services and more than fifteen medals.
In June, 2014 Vladimir Popov will turn 90. In the run up to the remarkable anniversary the artist is full of creative energy and artistic plans.
Throughout his semicentennial career Vladimir Popov has made a powerful contribution to development and formation of national Tatar and all-Russian art. Over ninety graphic and painting art works by him are kept in various museums and private collections of a number of countries of the West and the East.
The exposition in the Modern Art Gallery presents seventeen calligraphic art works created by Vladimir Popov in the last three years, and submitted for Gabdulla Tukay Award contest of 2014.
The personal exhibition of Vladimir Popov will run till March 31, 2014.
