Spartak Moscow suffered a crushing defeat against Krasnodar in its first game without its long-standing coach Valery Karpin.
He was fired after two losses in matches against Terek Grozny in the Premier League and Tosno Leningrad Region, a club from the second division, in the Russian Cup.
The team’s owner Leonid Fedun complained the title was floating away despite the fact that Karpin had all he had wanted.
Spartak’s goalkeeper Rebrov was helpless to save his side, and as well as the acting coach Dmitry Gunko.
Former Spartak player Ariclenes da Silva Ferreira, aka Ari, scored a hat trick to the disappointment of the fans. You can watch the highlights of the game here.
Spartak is now placed third in the table, but could well be outpaced by Dynamo Moscow who’s got one more game ahead.
Spartak are the 10th Russian club to change their head manager this season.
Luciano Spalletti has been fired from his post as the coach of Zenit St. Petesburg.
Training the team since 2009, he won the Premier League title twice, along with the Russian Cup and the Super Cup.
The reasons for the resignation have not been officially announced but many experts have condemned Spalletti’s policies saying they have precipitated a collapse of the team.
