Russia’s Evgeny Malkin scored two amazing goals and earned two assists in a clash against Tampa Bay.
"Geno was flying. He just dominated the whole [game]. He had the puck the entire game, drew two or three penalties, at least. He was on fire," the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Sidney Crosby was quoted as saying.
"I feel better every game," Malkin said. "I didn't play good after the Olympics, and Sid, he helped me a lot because he understands my problem with the loss and he supports me and helps me. After we talk, I feel so much better and I've just started to play better."
Russia were knocked out in the quarterfinals at the Sochi Olympic Games by Finland.
The defeat and overall poor performance was the reason for firing national coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov.
Otherwise, Russia did an impressive job at the Winter Games, grabbing 13 gold medals, securing a top place in the total medals chart and beating any previous Soviet or Russian records.
