The RF Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky supports the suggestion of the Animation Association about creating the Russian Animation TV channel.

      At the meeting with the minister in Suzdal the Animation Association members advanced the initiative of founding the Russian national channel for children. The presently working TV channels for children do not fulfill their function so well. Besides, nearly 80 per cent of their content consists of foreign production.

      We could act as the operator of such project, which does not have to be expensive to implement”, the Animation Association president Ilya Popov pointed out.

      In addition to that Mr. Medinsky suggested obliging the Russian TV channels to give no less than 2 percent of broadcasting time to Russian animated films and children’s programs.
